Tenormin is prescribed for patients suffering from angina and high blood pressure. It belongs to the group of drugs called beta blockers. It works by blocking beta receptors found in the body including the heart. This reduces the action of adrenaline in the heart, causing the heartbeat to reduce and thus reducing pain. This also reduces the pressure at which blood is pumped by the heart, reducing blood pressure levels.

- More serious side effects may include:
- Cold hands and feet;
